Inkjet Printer for Latent Prints

I am looking to purchase printers for the production of latent print comparison exercises. Can someone recommend a good inkjet printer for that purpose?

The best ink jet printer for detail, such a latent prints, is the Epson Stylus Photo R1900. It has a very small picoliter drop size which allows for great detail without excessive dots. The printer is fairly reasonable and reliable.

Try asking John Smith at Westminster University (UK). He has been investigating a variety of pirnters for such purposes and has well thought out views

I still like the small dye sub printers, they are so cheap now and give photo like quality, Canon put out the SELPHY which is very cheap under $80 Aussie, the cartridges are $43 Aussie which works out at under 40 cents a picture, but if you go to a kiosk you get the same quality for 10 to 20 cents a photo and no up front cost. By the time you get back to the office with your coffee and images from the kiosk your inkjet will just about have finished the same photo.

For your information. Northrop Grumman who hold the contract for the National AFIS system in the UK were asked to source a high quality printer for the printing of tenprint forms.

They have distributed the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 to all police forces in the UK for this purpose.

I believe the feedback has been positive, but the cost of the replacement ink can be prohibitive.
