OSAC Subcommittee on Friction Ridge

Post by Pat »

Twenty members have been announced for the "OSAC Subcommittee on Friction Ridge." This group will replace SWGFAST in writing standards for the practice of latent print examination. Half of the members of this subcommittee were members of SWGFAST, so there should be some continuity in the direction SWGFAST was taking the science.

I urge all readers of this forum to keep up with the workings of this new group. Do not hesitate to contact any of them with your questions, concerns, or comments regarding the way you think a latent print unit should operate, or the way you think things should be done on an individual level. These good folks will determine how we do fingerprints for decades to come. They need all the help they can get to ensure their decisions incorporate the best practices of science, while also reflecting the consensus of those of us working in the field.
