ACE-V methodology

Post by Michele »

Years ago, ACE-V was referred to as a method, or methodology. Then there seemed to be a shift and people started referring to it as a process... then as a framework.

Now I'm finding that it is referred to as a method again in several places.

Can someone explain to me why it wasn't a method but now it is again?

Michele,

If one huge problem has plagued fingerprints in the 44 or 45 years since I first testified, it is the constantly shifting explanations trying to explain how our minds work when we make an identification. I really don't think my mind processed a comparison in the late 1970s any differently than a new person's brain will starting out today. But our struggle to explain the unexplainable consistently makes us look like idiots just come in from the turnip patch. I don't think my identifications were any less accurate back then, nor do I think adding more scientific terminology makes my conclusions more reliable today.

The pendulum swings both ways, Michele. Don't let it knock you up side your head on its swings back and forth.
