The City of Austin has approved several new positions in its current budget:



They are: Two Crime Scene Specialists

Five Property Scene Specialists (positions already closed and applicants being interviewed)

One Crime Scene Supervisor

One Latent Print Examiner

Two Latent AFIS Technicians (called Administrative Assistants at this time)

One DNA Analyst

One Drug Chemist (position already closed and applicants being interviewed)

One QA Manager (position being posted inside the Forensic Division only)



The City of Austin is not the highest paying in this field, but they are not the lowest. Austin has good weather most of the year, mild winters and we will not talk about the summers.



For those wanting to break into Forensics, the Austin PD is a good place to pick up some training and experience before moving on to the higher paying positions OR a good spot for that person who has retired and is looking to supplement their retirement with a good job.
