The CSI's conundrum of the day

Post by David Fairhurst »

A CSI examines a box in a cannabis cultivation factory.
He copies the writing on the label into his notes at the scene.
When the notes are typed up the report says that the box was labelled:-

MAGNESUIM SNIPHOLE

What was in the box?

Okay, David, I've been playing with this all weekend and I'm stuck. Do we get another clue?

Epsom Salt?

In agriculture and gardening, magnesium sulfate is used to correct magnesium deficiency in soil (magnesium is an essential element in the chlorophyll molecule). It is most commonly applied to potted plants, or to magnesium-hungry crops, such as potatoes, roses, marijuana, and tomatoes. The advantage of magnesium sulfate over other magnesium soil amendments (such as dolomitic lime) is its high solubility. (Wikipedia)

PS. one of the words was not in the Wikiedia definition. Can anyone guess which word it was? (my riddle is easier than Dave's)

Did anyone else notice that it was spelled "magnesuim" above instead of "magnesium"?

Sure Kasey, you got the info from Wikipedia - not the other way around.

The box?

I say, "Goydnis Winseybaw" is great English name! He was obviously called "Win" when he was off to boarding school. Took his "O" levels and became a world-reknown Botanist. He is a gentle, somewhat bumbling soul...and will be played by Hugh Grant in the film, of course.

He discovers a plant that will change global warming, but has to be stopped by the evil Global Industrial Complex, embodied in the person of Anthony Hopkins. Helped by the lovely, and generously-endowed Lady Tiddlesworth-Hawksby, (Kate Winslet), Goydnis saves the world.

Feel free to use this idea for your next script.

Sharon! Of course! That's it!

The box was addressed to Goydnis Winseybaw. It contained the fertilizer named by Kasey (as a Scotsman played, no doubt, by Mel Gibson). The magic fertilizer is the key ingredient in cultivating the plant that will change global warming (cannabis, of course, as disclosed to us by David, who will be played by . . . hmmmm . . . any ideas, Sharon?) And, of course, the part played by Anthony Hopkins would be one George Bush, an ironic take-off on the shape of a mature cannabis plant.

I believe we have a blockbuster hit on our hands!

The box

Personally, I wouldn't want Mel Gibson anywhere NEAR my film...we do want it to sell, don't we? I would have Ewan MacGregor, instead. David will play himself...a masterpiece of type casting.

It will be a huge hit, Executive Produced by Woody Harrelson.

Sharon, you are right, of course. Mel Gibson insulted the Scots badly enough in Braveheart. We'll leave him (and them) out of this one entirely. That's a topic for a totally different movie.

Type casting David as himself if brilliant. A timely topic with an English cast struggling to save the Earth.

Of course it was Epsom Salts.

I must credit Aaron Davies, a Latent Print Examiner in the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab with the first correct answer: received by email yesterday.

Sorry Steve. ironically in a post about mistranscription, I transposed two of the letters in magnesium by mistake. DOH!

Does anyone see the relevance of the clue though?

As for the exploits of the eponymous Mr Winseybaw... I fear my acting skills are not really up to it. Have you asked Daniel Craig (the new James Bond 007) if he'll take the role?

David, you flatter yourself. But what's the matter? Don't you want to do the scene in the ship's hold where you are sitting naked in the chair that lacks a seat, being interrogated by the enemy agent with a knotted rope? But your suggestion is good, so here it is:

Coming to a theatre near you soon, the movie:

EPSOM SALTS

Executive Producer ........................Woody Harrelson
Film Editor ......................................Steve Everist
Casting Director ..............................Sharon Cook

CAST:
Goydnis Winseybaw ......................Hugh Grant
Lady Tiddlesworth-Hawksby ........Kate Winslet
George W. Bush .............................Anthony Hopkins
David Fairhurst ..............................Daniel Craig
Kasey Wertheim ............................Ewan MacGregor

And in a cameo role as himself .....Aaron Davies

Should be good, don't you think?
