Fluorescent Powders

Dear Folks:
Are fluorescent powders practical for use in the field? Assuming I have the correct tools, (blue wavelength flashlight, feather duster brush, proper filters for photography etc.) on what surfaces might fluorescent powder produce better results than standard fingerprint powders? And what are the best lifting methods? Finally, who are the fluorescent powder experts that I may consult every now and again when a question may arise?
Thanks to all in advance for your assistance. I am a policeman and evidence technician who is always looking for the "best practices."
Sincerely,
Acroreef
