Has anyone used the lens correction filter (under Distortion selection in the FIlter menu) to correct for fish-eye type lens distortions?

For example, among others, we have a Fuji S9100 that has the ability to shoot in a 'super-macro' mode. This mode will allow the camera to get relatively close-up (macro) images of anything, as long as there is enough light available (the lens is about .25 inches from the substrate). But, because of this closeness, there is considerable lens distortion around the edges. IN CS2 and later, there is a lens distortion filter that can correct for that. Anyone ever use that filter do do anything forensically? Anyone tested that particular filter to see how reliable it is?

Just curious. We mainly use a 100mm macro lens for close-up work but I thought about this filter and the Fuji S9100.

P.S. If this has already been addressed in a previous thread, excuse me. I did a very quick search and did not come across it.

I use this filter, when appropriate. I suggest that you photograph a grid pattern with your camera/lens combination, and correct the barrel distortion on that image, save it as a preset, then apply that preset to your images.

Thanks for the advice. I was going to test this out by putting my fingerprint on a tightly-gridded background, correct, and then do a side-by side of my scanned latent.
