So when will we get to implement NAS recomendations?

Interesting story. We had a similar problem (missing drugs, not sloppy work or poor storage conditions or improper documentation, etc.) in our lab a few years back.

Glenn,
Which NAS recommendations do you think would prevent this problem from occurring? Maybe mandatory accreditation or an external oversight board? Would either of these things have helped in this lab or in yours?
If there were an external oversight board, would they be ensuring good practices or would they really just make sure labs are accredited and practitioners are certified?
Would you happen to know how the problems in this lab (or yours) were caught? Was it caught by external reviews conducted to maintain accreditation?
