SURVEY ON DECISION MAKING AND ERROR IN FRICTION RIDGE COMPARISON

This is an independent project that seeks to explore how variable or consistent the articulation of the decision-making process is by examiners, and if there is a relationship between this and the approach to minimizing error. It is not a performance test. Results will be shared with the forensic community, and perhaps generate ideas and discussion on a broader application of the meaning of consensus.

The results from this survey are in the current issue of ID News (Feb/Mar 2014). Thank you so much to those who responded to the survey. I was able to present the survey results (in some more detail with a few more tables) at a conference in Wisconsin last summer and hope to do so at least a few more times in the future if anyone is interested in more information about it.
