Posted: Mon Nov 18, 2013 7:02 am
The Austin Police Department Forensic Science Services Division has had an opening for Latent Print Supervisor for a few months now, but recently, the requirements have changed. So some, who may have been interested, but could not answer "Yes" to some of the stringent requirements on the computerized application may now reapply and be considered for this position.
Please follow this link: https://www.austincityjobs.org to apply for this position and receive more information about the Austin area.
This position supervises six Latent Print Examiners and two AFIS Technicians. Two of the examiners are senior and we have a Technical leader. The latent print section is part of a full-service lab that also houses a DNA lab, Firearms and Toolmarks, Drugs and Toxicology area, Multimedia, Polygraph, and a large Crime Scene section and ID lab (latent print processing). There is also a Quality Assurance Manager. We have been ASCLD-LAB accredited since 2005, and are on the doorstep of ISO (next year) accreditation. We are in a forensic laboratory building built in 2004.
We (Texas) have mild winters, beautiful countryside, lots of lakes, piney woods, and places to go fishing, camping, hunting, and other outdoor activities. University of Texas is here. There are music festivals, biker and car races (formula one), and numerous other activities here throughout the year. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. This is just the place to be!
