Source for Silver Plates (for iodine transfer method)?

Does anyone know of a reputable source in the U.S. for silver plates to use in the iodine silver plate transfer method for retrieving prints from human skin? A high purity solid silver plate that is just thick enough to press and uniformly flatten on the skin surface is desired. Sizes around 2 x 2" to 4 x 4" are ideal. Thanks.

Forget fingerprint supply houses. See a local custom jeweler. He will make one out of sterling silver polished to a mirror finish to fit your needs. It won't be cheap, but it's not the one-time expenses that kill you, it's the repeat charges. Besides, it will make a great tax deduction.

In the article, "Identification of Fingerprints on Human Skin", D.H. Shin and D.G. Argue, Journal of the Canadian Forensic Science Society, 9:2 (1976), the authors mention 'tin plate', as well as a 'silver plate', for the recovery of the iodine developed image.

Thanks for the info...the hunt continues! I'll post the source I use when I'm finished, if I'm happy with the results. The in-town jewelry store option sounds like a good lead.
