I lifted these at the scene of a residential burglary using black powder. At first glance, I collected them thinking they were fabric marks. Upon returning to my office and looking at them under a glass, I am convinced they are latents with dysplasia. The randomness of the markings are too disoriented to be any fabric I’ve ever seen. In my 10 years of latent experience, I have never come across an actual case of dysplasia, nor has anyone in my group. I was hoping that someone with more experience could help me determine if I am correct? The scale is in cm. Thanks!

Ive seen dysplasia and dissociation, but these images are not similar to those. My first impression is that you have some kind of glove print (latex? rubber? PVC? Nitrile?) in which the glove wrinkles under pressure/stress/tension at the point of contact with the surface. (Too tight? Too loose?)

I would go for some glove marks as well. One of our master did some work on them (published in French though).

I've seen gloves with ribbed or textured finger surfaces. Perhaps that is what you have here

If Christophe has the gloves pegged right, then there are two possibilities:

1. The texturing of the gloves is formed by random cooling and shrinking during manufacture, in which case it may be possible to identify the gloves leaving the prints to a fairly high degree of probability (gloves may tend to follow the same pattern when cooling, so the pseudo ridges might not be entirely random); or

2. The texturing is molded into the gloves during manufacture, in which case only gross pattern matching would be possible.

One would need to find a suspect with gloves, then contact the manufacturer to learn more, then conduct experiments to form the basis for reaching a conclusion.

Or so it would seem to this old dinosaur.

If this came from plastic, they could be sprue marks. I've seen a lot of sprue marks on cash register drawers.
