Light source reviews

Our lab is looking into new light sources to use during processing/photography of latents, and ran across this product we're considering:

http://www.sirchie.com/products/alterna ... Wduc00tCUk

Has anyone used this or seen it demonstrated? Given the low price, we're curious about the brightness of the UV and blue 455 nm lights.

Thanks for any input!

I have not used this item.
However, it does not provide for the 495nm - 515nm green line, which is often used in latent lab photography, so it may be limiting in your lab environment.

The link for the item you provided states that this product "provides all the light needed to conduct an on-scene forensic investigation" & "This kit was built for field use." I assume then that the item was intended for the crime scene search arena and may not be suitable for your intended lab use.

I've not seen these in person either, but my experience with light sources and just about anything else is that you get what you pay for.
