Research Advisory Board and Participants needed

Tom Busey and John Vanderkolk are looking for applicants/volunteers for their research advisory board/participants in future studies. See email below. Sounds pretty good if you have an interest in participating in research AND want some input in where the research should go.

For the past 14 years, John Vanderkolk (Laboratory Manager, Indiana State Police, Fort Wayne) and Dr. Tom Busey (Professor, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN), have collaborated on a series of studies that have documented the nature of expertise in latent print examiners. We believe that the best way to improve the science and practice of latent print comparisons is for examiners to become active participants in the research process. We are forming the Indiana Research Advisory Board that consists of a small number of active latent print examiners. The goal of the board is to actively engage examiners in research projects to demonstrate how research can reduce errors and improve the science of latent print comparisons.
If you are an active latent print examiner with an interest in research, you might consider applying for membership on the board. Members will have the first opportunity to participate in research studies, with the idea that board members will provide not only research-grade data, but also provide feedback that will improve the study designs for future studies. Board members will be invited to conference calls with Tom and John to discuss the results of various studies. These conference calls may also produce ideas for future studies that individual board members may want to pursue, and we can explore how these studies might be conducted. Research meetings at the IAI conference will also occur.
To apply, send an email to John (vanderkolkjohn@yahoo.com ) and Tom (busey@indiana.edu) with a brief description of your experience with latent print comparisons, as well as any particular research interests you may have. Selection of board members will begin in late June, 2015, and continue until the board is full. Members typically serve two year terms which are renewable, and can resign at any time.
