Fingerprint Examinations - Time to Modernise

Hi. I've just had my article on cognitive bias and note-taking during the ACE-V procedure, published in July's edition of Fingerprint Whorld. It explains how the fingerprints in a person's reference form can influence the examiner's interpretation of the crime scene mark. It also recommends the practical implementation of note-taking at the analysis stage and a stricter linear application of the ACE-V methodology. This would help minimise the cognitive bias present and assist in producing an objective evaluation result of the correct evidential strength.
