New Experiment (just for fun)

After talking to the other mods of this board, we thought it might be interesting to see if there is interest in doing a sort of scavenger hunt on the internet for fingerprint-related items. I thought I could post a clue and see who the first person is that can respond with the correct item.

So, today, I pose this question (and this one is easy!):

Can anyone find the image that is associated with the quote in my signature on this post?

Post the link or the image once you've found it. If this takes off, I'll make them harder to find or at least make the clues harder.

Heather wins! See, I said it was easy. Okay, I'll pour over some locations and find one that is just a bit harder; stay tuned.

Okay, here goes another attempt:

What was the name of the medical doctor who first proposed using fingerprints in a murder case, in (big clue here!) 1840?

British folks should get this easy! (see what I did there, another clue!)

Nice one, Snyder22!

Ok, sorry for the delay in getting back to you--I had our local IAI conference last week. I'll post something by the end of this week.

Here is a photo of some fingerprint artwork.

See if you can find where it is (with a link to a street-view map a bonus) and who the artist is.

Nice job, Doc, did you know of it previously or a few precise keyword searches?

I used a screenshot of the street view so that it couldn't be found via image search.

Google is an amazing search tool, isn't it? Play with a few terms and you can find all sorts of stuff. Did you notice that the link gives the same exact frame you posted, minus the cropping? That was fun!

Location and name...and bonus points if you've been there and can post a pic to prove it!

OK - here's another one that will hopefully require more than one click in Google to figure out. Speaking of... does anyone else think Dr. Borracho is sitting in front of a computer, constantly hitting refresh in the forums?

So here's the question:
What connection does Currer Bell have to our field?

Some people in our field feel the need to write anonymously.

Charlotte Bronte was a fan of Thomas Bewick and his wood carvings of birds.
See https://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/ ... are_btn_fb .
and
http://bronteblog.blogspot.com/2015/02/ ... wicks.html

Bewick also had the fingerprint wood carving often mentioned in fingerprint history.

"Thomas Bewick’s History of British Birds, mentioned in Jane Eyre, was owned by Yorkshire philanthropist believed to have supported Brontë family", ...."A rare first edition of Thomas Bewick’s History of British Birds belonging to Frances Currer, the woman believed to have inspired Charlotte Brontë’s pseudonym of Currer Bell, has come to light."

Charlotte Bronte wrote under the pen name Currer Bell.
