Other defendant gets new trial due to false statements made by Detective and also state didn't notify defense that the police fingerprint examiner was not qualified to conduct comparisons

The article totally fails to mention that it was the appellate defense team preparing Lana Canen's appeal after six years in prison who hired a retired latent print examiner, Kathleen Birnbaum, to review the fingerprint evidence. The Indiana State Police had previously refused to review the case, citing their policy of not reworking other agencies' cases. Only after Mrs. Birnbaum had written her report and the defense team filed it with the court did ISP agree to a second look and verify Mrs. Birnbaum's conclusion.
