Visual Examination for Evidence Processing

I am curious if any other agencies use any light sources (such as ALS or lighting techniques) during their initial visual examination for evidence for processing.

I always have, especially for porous evidence that may have inherent fluorescent prints on them.

I am curious to know if and how much success you have had with visual inspections generally but especially with porous surfaces.
