Titanium Dioxide for latent print processing

Our laboratory is implementing the use of Titanium Dioxide for the development of fingerprints off of adhesive and non-adhesive surfaces. However, there has been some internal debate as to whether or not it is suitable as a replacement for conventional processing techniques (fuming, dye-staining, sticky-side powder). It is my understanding that the chemical adheres to fingerprint residues and that there is no chemical reaction, thereby we wouldn't be "missing" any latents that might respond to an alternative processing technique. Any other agencies using this technique, and where does it fall into place in the sequential process? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Adhesive surfaces

The agency I work for uses WetWop on adhesive surfaces, and we get excellent results. During training I've gotten usable latents off of the sticky side of bandaids and post-it notes. In casework I've gotten usable latents of of stamps, address labels, cellophane tape, electrical tape and duct tape. It comes in both black and white formulations.

I use Titanium Dioxide (Ti0-2) mainly on BOTH SIDES of black electrical tape. I find it provides execellent results.
It was reported to also be valuable in processing both sides of duct tape and some plastics as well; however, I've not acheived outstanding results on these surfaces.
I would not limit myself to only using Titanium Dioxide on all adhesive surfaces. The Gentian Violet followed by stick side powder works well on the adhesive sides of duct tape and clear tape.
I have used Titanium Dioxide with other processes with out great results. I would recommend the Tio-2 for electrical tape only.

I use TiO2 in addition to other processes and have had success on clear packaging tape, electrical tape and the adhesive side of magnetic strips. Latents developed with the TiO2 after processing the item with sticky side powder and gentian violet.
