Anyone else have Moto AFIS (besides us in Tri-State)? I am curious as to what you have your reverse search threshold set at.

We return 10 responses on reverse searches and my Fingerprint Technicians (10 print staff) are ON FIRE! making reverse hits with the new Motorola system.
They do all the reverse verifications including palms and have been very successful. They make hits on candidates from all positions on the response list.

Bill,
Could you ask them what the threshold score is set at for me?

Score Threshold is a non issue on these reverse searches. We get ten respondants on every one. I've seen a number of hits with very low scores and/or no score separation.
(for the record, the threshold is set at 50 for all reverse searches.)

Wow, fifty is pretty low! Glad to hear they are doing well. We have been enjoying good results with the system.

50 isn't low, it's a non-threshold
I plan to adjust them eventually, especially on the Palm reverse searches.
I said we hit on low scores, but I've never seen one hit that low
Out of curosity, who reviews your reverse searches. I've had "debates" on this with others over whether Latent examiners should be doing them.

We also return 10 responses on each of three reverse searches - ten-print to ten-print; ten-print to latent; and known palm to latent palm.
We have LIVESCAN capability, and our ten-print searches are 'lights out' unless a possible ten-print 'hit' has a score of under 5,000. Low-scoring ten print hits are placed in the queue for a technician to examine.

Bill and Cindy,
Us latent examiners do the reverses (there is only two of us), our 10 print folks have plenty to do as it is! Our reverse response is five candidates and our lowest hit so far was at 2100.

I'm curious what Motorola users think of your systems. Our agency will be going out for a new system in the next year. I attended the vendor presentations and was pretty impressed with Motorola. I am in tenprints but would like to hear your feedback on both tenprint and latent aspects of the system.

As a Printrak/Motorola user since 1984, I'll testify that it just keeps getting better and better.
The new systems are amazing in what they can do and Printrak BIS from Motorola has been the most reliable/trouble free AFIS system I've ever managed.
All current vendors have their act together and any system you get will perform well if managed by your agency.

We still have the LS2000, however, our state has already begun the up- grading so we'll all have the new and much improved Motorola AFIS hopefully before the end of the year. I already have the system here in boxes just waiting to be put together!
At this time I get 18 respondants for my latent searches ....we set that way back a long time ago...
