Chapter 2 pp 11-12.Friction-ridge individulization has been found to be a highly dependable method because the evidence is physical and therefore not subject to mental impressions, memory lapses, suggestion, or any of the other deficiencies of eyewitness testimony. The almost universal modern use of fingerprints for personal individulization testifies to their reliability and utility.
