Hi

I was just trying to get hold of a copy, electronic if possible, of "The Heredity of Papillary Patterns" by Sandor Okros printed in 1965. I've seen a brief summary of it but I would really like to read the whole thing.

You might also be interested in the work of Sarah Holt as published in her 1968 book "The Genetics of Dermal Ridges". She did studies on "Total Finger Ridge Count" and determined with high levels of confidence that adding the ridge counts from the core to the radial delta from a child will provide the average TFRC of both parents (50% parent-child). She also found high 90 percentile correspondence (97% I think) between identical twins TFRC, suggesting strong genetic control over the specific facet of ridge counts. From my studies, this is related specifically to the timing of the onset of ridge formation and the size of the volar pads at that point in fetal life. There seem to be no copies right now on the net (somebody can correct me if I'm wrong), but maybe your library can also find this one for you.
