The following is from the Spring 2000 issue of the Chesapeake Examiner Vol. 38 Number 1. It was contributed to that publication by R. C. Bartley III from Howard County, MD.

Fingerprints

We leave our fingerprints behind on everything we touch....
In the giving and taking an imprint means so much.
For we know that we are touching more than glass or wood or steel.
Yes, it's the human heart that bares the witness seal.
Let our fingerprints be left on a kind deed that we do,
and remember that the words we speak are fingerprinting too.
Some prints can be dusted and lifted out of sight,
but the prints that are left behind are hidden from the light.
And what of the last impression we leave upon this Earth?
We will find out in eternity what a fingerprint is worth.
