Statistics for Fingerprint Examiners Course

Dear Colleagues,
I am happy to announce that the Minnesota BCA in St. Paul, Minn. will be offering an approximately 40 hour course in statistics for fingerprint examiners, August 25-29. The cost of the course: free. Yep, free. (other than your travel costs: travel, hotel, and meals, although we will try and provide continental breakfast and lunch).
Essentially the proposed 5 day course would involve a series of very basic lectures geared towards the forensic scientist with no background in statistics or probability theory. We would start with the general. Then towards midweek begin applying the general to specifics of forensic science. Finally we would have the opportunity to apply these concepts to fingerprint examinations. We will use a variety of tools to achieve this, including computer assisted calculations for statistics. We will also have the fortunate timing to have lectures from Mr. Cedric Neumann from the U.K. who would be visiting during this time as well.
Your total costs would consist of your travel expenses. Figure in air or car (we are on a northwest hub, so it is easy to get direct flights here), $100/night hotel (Sunday through Thursday). Class would end by 2 or 3 on Friday. The lab is approximately 2 miles from the hotel. If you/your agency will not fund the renting of a car, we can get you a ride.
This will be first come first serve (sort of), we can take up to 15 individuals, and we reserve the right to be selective (we would rather 1 or 2 from many agencies rather than 10 from 1 agency).
This course is recommended for examiners with at least 1 year of experience.
