Heads-Up to Yahoo Email Users

I received an email from Kasey today saying that someone must have gotten a virus that has both of our email addresses. A spam email went out showing it came from my email address - which is also the one I use for these forums.

Then I checked my spam folder and found some replies from Pat notifying me of the same thing along with a couple of returned emails. I did a little searching around and found that this has happened to a lot of people using Yahoo email. Additionally, it wipes out your email contact list. It sounds more like Yahoo was hacked then someone is stealing individual passwords.

So if you have a Yahoo email address, you may want to check your sent messages to see if you also had this happen to you, along with checking your address book to see if there's anything left in it. Luckily this email account only had about 10 addresses in it, and they were all available through the sent email.

The email that came to me from Steve's yahoo address was a "Hi friend" type message that recommended clicking on a new website he had found. It was not even signed with a name, certainly not "Steve." It was obvious the message was not written by a native English speaker, as numbers and tenses were wrong and articles were left out. I fell for this once years ago in an email from Bonnie, which was really NOT from Bonnie, and it did over $1000 damage to my laptop. If you get a message like that from anybody, do NOT click on the link. Email the person back immediately, like Kasey and I did.

Gosh Steve, if you're going to spam me about buying World of Warcraft gold, could you at least learn English...

The county has a few grammar and punctuation classes, perhaps it's time you attend.

I'm just sayin'.
