The Holy Fingerprint (of Antioch)

Post by David Fairhurst »

I was recently going through some old files and came across the stuff I brought back from the centennial conference in St Louis. Among the papers was this tongue-in-cheek adaptation of a skit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
It was penned one night in St Louis by three of our regular contributors and then circulated in the latent prints lecture theatre the next morning. David Ashbaugh's face was a picture when he read it.
Arthur: "How does it, uh.... How does it work?"

Lancelot: "I know not my Leige."

Arthur: "Consult the Book of Ridgeology!"

Brother Maynard: "Ridgeology, Chapter 2, Verses 9 to 21..."

Another Monk: "And Saint Ashbaugh raised the Fingerprint up on high saying, 'Oh, Lord! Bless this Thy Fingerprint, that with it Thou mayest know Thine enemies by their tiny fingers in Thy mercy. And the Lord did grin, and the examiners did gaze upon the ridges, and furrows, and pores, and edges, and creases, and scars, and incipients, and large worts-' "

Brother Maynrd: "Skip a bit, Brother..." *waves at him*

Another Monk: And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Magnifier. Then shalt thou examine to three. No more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt examine, and the number of the levels shall be three. Four shalt thou not examine, neither examine thou to two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the level three, being the third level, be reached, then individualisest thou, thy Holy Fingerprint of Antioch, of thy foe... who, being naughty in My sights, shal plead it'... " *closes the book*

Brother Maynard: "Amen..."

All: "Amen."
This is reproduced and recorded here for posterity as a bit of light-hearted relief from the heavier topics currently dominating discussions. May it also act as a welcome memento of the good times had by all who were in St Louis in the August of 2004.

Oooo! Oooo! I wanna be one of The Knights Who Say "Alsolutely!"

Later, we become The Knights Who Say, "Probababababababababability."

(They're both hard to get past.)

Get the coconuts from the stable and we shall be off ... whoever the three were who did this, I give major Kudos to them all! It really was quite clever. Good job David for finding it again and sharing it with the rest of us.
