Looking for a reference...

Post by michelleewaldron »

...to an article or any information on an identification made with no Galton details. I know I've seen at least one but can't find it mentioned anywhere. Help! :)

Off the top of my head, I believe the FBI made a "Zero Point" ID that was published in the JFI. It was a latent from a rifle scope. I will post the reference if I can find it.

A ‘no minutiae (L2D)’ identification was reported in “Unusual Latent Print Examinations”, Robert D. Reneau, Journal of Forensic Identification, Vol. 53, No. 5 (2003), when only fully developed and incipient ridges were observed in the confines of the latent print.

Thank you, Ernie. This was the case I was thinking of . . . though it was published by the Illinois State Police and not the FBI. It was a mark from a rifle scope though . . .
