Hello there good people!
Can anyone enlighten me how to do this as I cannot upload from my PC...I tried to hotlink a properly sized jpeg from my Flickr account but the board told me the URL was invalid...

Go to the 'All available sizes' section of flickr. Choose the 75 x 75 version and right click on the image (Mac users need not apply). This will give you the static URL to the picture; highlight and copy it to your clipboard.
Go to your avatar in the profile tab of the control panel for this site and paste it in and enter the dimensions; Hit submit.
it'll look like this:
