Stats Class for Fingerprint Examiners

Post by g. »

Hi and Happy New Year to All,

I just wanted to let people know, especially those that have emailed me or inquired in the past about opportunities to learn more about statistics and probabilities and how they can be applied to fingerprint issues, we have scheduled another stats class. It is now open for enrollment. Mesa Police Department is hosting the course May 2-6, 2011.

Interested parties can visit the website and download fliers, course information, and registration forms.

Space is limited. There are only about 15 open seats after the locals/host agencies have claimed them. It is first registered/paid, first served.

As some of you know, this is one of my favorite classes to teach, because it really brings a lot of things together for me. Teaching this class with Cedric has really helped me with my testimony especially when dealing with questions having to do with error rates, the assignment of subjective probabilities, informed judgments, “exclusion of all others”, etc.

Best wishes in 2011.

PS-the class isn't limited to just fingerprint examiners. We've had attorneys, a firearms examiner, DNA analysts, QD examiner, and a Bloodstain Patten analyst take the course before. The first 3 days can be pro-rated and are really general forensic statistical issues. The last 2 days are specific to fingeprint practices.

Actors?

I get it. Combine statistics with testimony training.
