The supervisor position has been re-posted with changes. Expereince can now be substituted for the degree requirement. We also have an examiner position, posted for the first time.

LATENT PRINT SECTION SUPERVISOR / JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Austin Texas Police Department currently has a vacancy for a Latent Print Section Supervisor. Under minimal direction this position is responsible for the daily operations of the Latent Print Section which encompasses the work of six Latent Print Examiners and two APFIS Technicians.


Minimum Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice or in a field related to the job, plus five (5) years work experience in latent print.
• Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
• Must be qualified and having testified as an expert witness regarding Latent Print analysis in District, State, or Federal court.
• Successful completion of at least one year of ASCLD/LAB approved proficiency testing.
• Must possess IAI Latent Print Certification.
• Possess or be able to obtain a valid Class “C” Texas Drivers License


Salary Range
Salary commensurate with experience.

LATENT PRINT EXAMINER /JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Austin, Texas Police Department currently has a vacancy for a Latent Print Examiner. Under general direction, responsible for the documentation, evaluation, and analysis of friction ridge evidence in a laboratory setting. Responsible for operation of the local, state and federal AFIS systems.


Minimum Qualifications
• Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice or in a field related to the job.
• Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
• Possess or be able to obtain a valid Class “C” Texas Drivers License.
• Must obtain IAI Latent Print Certification within 12 months of being eligible for testing.


Salary Range
Salary commensurate with experience.

The LPE job has been filled. They're still looking for a supervisor though . . .
