Can you recommend a secure file sharing program?

Hello all,

I am trying to find the best secure file sharing program for latent print images and scans of ten-print cards, palm prints etc. I have been fairly impressed with Dropbox, but a colleague suggested it may not be secure (enough), and that it should be at a minimum password protected. Maybe it would be just as easy to send directly via email but I am not sure extremely large files sizes would be too large for traditional email. I know in the past the network administrators where I work(ed) would not allow multiple large file attachments.

Can anyone out there enlighten me on the best way to "securely" share high res image files over the internet?

There are several cloud storage companies that offer secure, shareable storage. All require a password to log in to. I have several but some are box.com, pogoplug.com, and google. Some are free (up to 5GB), others are paid. I use this to send images to my parents of my family. I know that those types of images aren't necessarily highly top secret but nonetheless, I feel better than just sending them in an email.

A really simple way to share files like this in the cloud isto change the extension before you upload them. So, instead of print1.tif, change it to print1.tife. Make sure the person you are sharing with knows to change it back to print1.tif so they can view it. That might give you a better sense of secure-ness.
