We're looking for one more Latent Print Examiner to complete our collection. As has been posted previously, Austin is a booming city in the hill country of Texas that (usually) has agreeable weather, lots of fun community activities, and has been deemed the fastest growing city by Forbes magazine. The surrounding area has beautiful country with lakes and piney woods - plenty of hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, mountain-biking, etc. The lab itself is a modern facility housing the latent print section as well as a large crime scene section and processing lab, DNA, Firearms and toolmarks, Drug lab, Toxicology, Multimedia area, and Polygraph. We have been ASCLD-LAB accredited since 2005 and will be applying this year for ISO accreditation. Overall, the work environment is very good, friendly professionals to work with, and good benefits. The Latent Print Section has a Supervisor, six Latent Print Examiners and two APFIS Technicians. One examiner is Senior and Technical Lead.

It should also be mentioned that there is a progression plan in place whereby a latent print examiner meeting the qualifications can test for Senior Latent Print Examiner and receive a pay upgrade. There is also a service incentive program for those reaching varying number of years of service.
