Historic Hooghly Letter

Post by josher89 »

I know there is a section of this board dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of historic documents (or fingerprint history in general) but I couldn't find this there:

Does anyone have a copy of, or know where to get a copy of, the Hooghly Letter that W. Herschel wrote detailing his classification system back in 1877? I've googled and can't find the actual letter but it is referred to so much, I'd like to see it if I could. If it is in Farsi, then it won't do me too much good but if there is a translation of it, that would be fine as well.

I have found a copy of the letter. While not a scan, it is the text from said letter. I found it in Herschel's paper "The Origin of Finger-printing' (you can google search that and get a copy). It starts on page 22 and goes through page 24.

If I could delete the question, I would but in case someone else is interested, that's where I found it. I should have looked there first.
