I suppose it wouldn't be nice to have reminded him that his palms and soles of his feet also have identifiable friction ridge skin... there's only so much you can eat before you arrive at the fingerprint site...

I prefer the 'let the idiot suffer' method.
It is akin to another criminal who thought he was being smart - he knew that police wanted to collect a hair sample from him. So, he shaved his head, chest, back, legs, arms and pubic hairs. When he came in for the forensic procedure (with a smug look on his face), the officer calmly asked him if he had remembered to also shave his rear end. Needless to say, he endured a rather painful hair collection......
