Standard? Technical Report? What's the Difference?
by Mary C. McKiel, Ph.D., ANSI & ISO Consultant for ASB
Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs), such as the AAFS-Academy Standards Board (ASB), provide a range of deliverables to their user communities. It is helpful to understand what those deliverables are, and what distinguishes one from another. This article discusses the differences between two kinds of deliverables: Standards and Technical Reports.

I was just thinking, if 012 is considered to be a best practice by those who wrote it, have they changed their procedures and moved in this direction?
There are a lot of practitioners on the OSAC and ASB, how many of them have changed their SOPs to reflect the terms and definitions of 'source identification' and 'propositions'?
I know DOJ uses the term source identification, an the Army Crime Lab may use the term proposition. Who else has changed, and if they haven't changed, why not if they believe this to be a 'Best Practice'?

I think until this are officially adopted/published, they are still just proposals. I would also venture a guess that there will be additional guidance given on how to report results that may get into testimony as well.
