Boston Mariott Copley Place - Internet Access, etc...

Post by Steve Everist »

I just got off the phone with the host hotel for the IAI International Conference. They do have internet access available in room, however it is wired and not free.

The cable is supposed to be in the closet, so you don't have to bring your own, and the cost is $9.95 per 24 hours. There is wireless available in the lobby and conference rooms.

So those of you planning on bringing your laptops, here's a heads-up that internet access is going to cost you if you're staying at the host hotel.

If you think you'll be needing to do laundry, they do not have facilities although they do have a (pay) laundry service. There is a laundromat about a 5 minute walk. Of course the hotel is attached to a mall, so you can just buy new stuff too!

If you're considering taking the subway from the airport to the hotel, I have the directions. It includes a (free) shuttle to the airport station, trip on the blue line with a transfer at the State Street Station to the orange line, then arriving at the Back Bay Station. There are a few more hoops to jump through to get into the hotel lobby. If you'd like them, just email me at seeverist -at- earthlink -dot- net and I'll send them your way. The cost for the trip is $1.25 and it should take about 30 minutes from airport to lobby. It's up to you if you want to claim it with your department for transportation costs...

I've gotten several emails for this, so I've typed the directions into a Word document file. Just email me if you'd like it.

I sure hope I didn't write something down wrong when they gave me the directions over the phone!!!

FYI - Checi Room Cancellations!

Post by Kasey Wertheim »

I just phoned the Host hotel and was able to secure a room at the block rate. This is likely due to cancellations today, so if you monitor this board and are at the over-flow, there is a chance you can get in if you call again - 617-236-5800

Thanks Kasey,

I quit checking once all of King County's attendees had their conference rate.

If anyone is leaving Sunday and still wants directions, email me at my earthlink address above. I fly out Sunday morning, but I will probably have my laptop packed up before lights-out tonight.
