CA Chamber "Accessories"

Post by ekuadam »

Good Morning,

I was just wondering what type of things people use in their chamber to stabilize items for processing? Like how do you all put cartridges in the chamber? Round items that like to roll around? Pennies or loose change?

Just curious.

In one of my previous labs, we all saved the little three-legged plastic "stools" some pizza places use to keep the box tops from touching the pizza. Great for holding three empty shell casings. They could also be used singly or in combination to hold up other small items.

In my current lab, the processing technician has some test tube drying racks to hold shell casings or other small items.

We also used a lot of small binder clips to grab small items by the edges and hang from the ceiling of the cabinet.

We have binder clips and such to hang stuff from. I also received some test tube holders from our DNA section that I can put cartridges in. I just didn't know if anyone had any different ideas. What we have works, I just didn't know if anyone had any other ideas.

I also recall many years ago using fishhooks on leaders to hook kilos of cocaine and hang them in a cabinet.

One of the things I find most useful is a test tube style peg holder. They can be used for cartridge casings, larger caliber rounds (9mm+), credit cards, etc...

I built several different stands using slotted angle and nuts/bolts to hold different calibers of casings (these work in our VMD chamber as well). We use wire hangers cut (since it's a bigger gauge wire) and bent in an 'S' shape to loop over the one rod in each of our chambers as well as binder clips to hold items from the corners.
