Are you a LEO.gov user?
I'm just curious how many examiners use Law Enforcement Online in some capacity. It's primarily aimed towards LE officers, but there is potential for the rest of us to get use out of it.
They have Special Interest Groups (SIG's) and one exists for Latent Service Exchanges - I think Ed German was/is a moderator for that group. However it hasn't had any activity in a few years. There are a couple of unsolved latents posted, some news links (like the Alzheimer's one I posted in another thread), and other links of interest. But like I said, much of this is dated.
LEO also has a secure chat feature and there are occasionally live chats on different topics. This is something that those of us working for LE agencies could take advantage of in some capacity. It requires administrator privileges, but it could be useful for a live exchange of information.
It could be that much of its use is being provided in other places, such as the CLPEX forums. But if there's a desire for a more secure, private capacity for which members of LE only would like to discuss topics, this seems like the place.

I have LEO access although I'm not sworn. I've been able to get into some SIG's reserved for LE's although part of my duties includes crime scene processing so it was beneficial to the SIG. I would like to see a SIG for latent examiners as this was the primary reason I have the leo.gov access; for latent searches through IAFIS using LEO. Still haven't been able to get that worked out though. If anyone has any suggestions, please advise. I've been trying to get the JABS portion of LEO going but I work nights and the problems I have all require daytime help desk help. I agree with Steve totally. Sometimes there needs to be a little more secure access for those within the LE community to discuss certain topics. Any comments?

Josh,
I got it and responded with my schedule last week. I also got a test IM from you this morning. I think we may not have much, if any, schedule overlap. Norberto has been on along with Boyd and I in the past.
I've also sat in on some of their chats, although they're on my day off along with not necessarily relating to fingerprints.
In the contact list, you're still listed as "Approval Pending" too.
