Porous item processing question

Good afternoon everyone,

One of my coworkers is looking for suggestions on how to approach a lab processing case. She has a porous item (an envelope) that she has been asked to re-process. The envelope was previously processed with ninhydrin and then physical developer in 2004 and one latent was developed with ninhydrin. No images of any latent prints can be located. She is planning on trying to re-process the item, but is not sure what will yield the best results, as there was a maleic acid rinse performed between processing steps. Does anyone have suggestions?

I was always taught that PD was the last step. After that, you're done. I think you're done...but perhaps someone has some new thing that I haven't heard of...

I think processing with PD again will be your best chance at redeveloping or enhancing any latents. You could also use a Potassium Iodide redox solution after PD.
