help...sth about dry ninhydrin methods

Post by wahaha »

does anybody konw Robert Olsen Jr. 's two nin-dry techniques—one describing the use of applying ninhydrin crystals directly on the evidence and then placing the item in a humidity chamber?

I worked with Bob, but did not hear of that method. You might look at the following in that same vein (dry ninhydrin):

Advanced Solvent-Free Application of Ninhydrin for Detection of Latent Fingerprints on Thermal Paper and Other Surfaces, Lothar Schwarz and Inga Frerichs, Journal of Forensic Sciences, 47:6 (2002) Comment: Use of ninhydrin crystals in a heated vacuum situation to reduce background

Here is an article in SCAFO that has one method - placing the thermal paper between 2 paper towels that have been soaked in ninhydrin and dried. They are placed in a plastic bag for a couple of days for latent development.
