Washing Thermal Paper w/ Methanol after Ninhydrin Treatment

I was wondering if anyone is aware of an approved process to remove the black background on thermal paper after treatment with ninhydrin. I have use methanol before and this removes, or washes away, the black background on thermal paper that the ninhydrin causes and the prints are just as clear as if the prints were on normal paper. I am wondering if anyone has, or is aware of, any articles or research papers on this technique. I am trying to validate this process and these papers on previous testing would help me out a great deal. I was told by a pervious examiner that he found information on this technique in one of the JFI articles, but he can't remember which one it was. Any help would be greatly apprechiated, thanks.
