Cheap Ringlight Flash
I'm kind of a bug about cheap tools and methods. I ran across this one the other day, an interesting approach to a macro "ringlight" device using the built-in pop-up flash on most new digital SLR's. Uses fiberoptics, a ring from the photo junk box, and other junk.
