Has anyone had any trouble with BlueStar tablets being mushy when opened?
The other night, I used two sets of tablets at a crime scene and both were mushy, as though moisture had gotten into the foil packages. They were from two different lot numbers: 1-4296 and 1-05/2009. The brown tablet was lumpy and muddy looking and the light colored tablet was a thin coat of goo inside of the foil. I was able to scrap out most of the material and get it into the spray bottle, and it did react the way I expected it to.
Anyone else had a similar experience? The foil packages looked fine and I store them where they are not subjected to humidity or being crushed. Then, I thought it might be a shelf life problem, but I didn't think BlueStar tablets had a shelf life.

Was it subject to heat or stored in a place that tends to get very hot??

Nope, I keep them in my air conditioned lab until I am called to take them to a scene and use them. I don't keep them in my car on the off chance I might need them.

hmmm...maybe they cooked when they were shipped to you?? Thats what it sounds like - I've had something similar happen to me with BS but we stopped using it shortly after so I never delved into it thoroughly but that was what we had thought at the time.
