Help with history of ACE-V

Post by g. »

Hi All,

I am trying to answer a very specific question: when did Ashbaugh first publish/write something regarding the use of ACE-V as a descriptive model for fingerprint examinations. I need to have it verifiable print. So memories and anecdotes won't work here...

I have as early as 1991 in print, but I know he was discussing it earlier. The question is, did he write about it earlier? There are 3 references that I realized are not in my reference collection (and thus missing from the Holy Grail) and my collection is incomplete on this topic. If anyone has these and is willing to contact me and email me .pdfs, I would be grateful and ensure they are included on future Grail versions.

Thank-you in advance for any assistance.
The documents I am seeking are:

Ashbaugh, D. R., “Ridgeoscopy - The Time Is Now”, Fingerprint Whorld, 8(30), 1982.
Ashbaugh, D. R., “Ridgeology: Our Next Evaluative Step”, RCMP Gazette, 45(3), 1983.
Ashbaugh, D. R., “The Key to Fingerprint Identification”, Fingerprint Whorld, 10(40),
1985.

Hi Glenn,

On the following link (files.me.com/cchampod/5lfgft), you will find PDFs of Dave Ashbaugh's papers. Full references are as follows:

Ashbaugh, D. R. (1982). "Ridgeoscopy - Time is now." Fingerprint Whorld 8(30): 36-38.
Ashbaugh, D. R. (1983). "La crétologie: la prochaine étape de l'évaluation." La Gazette de la G.R.C. 45(3): 10-14 (I only have the French version, but it should match the English version). I am of course keen to have a copy of the English one as well!
Ashbaugh, D. R. (1985). "The Key to Fingerprint Identification." Fingerprint Whorld 10(40): 93-96.

I have also added a few additional papers from the RCMP gazette (in French):

Again, if you manage to find the original papers in English, I would love a copy.

Take care

Christophe

All three of the references (as well as others by David Ashbaugh) were part of my collection that was donated to USACIL. I understand they have convert all (2300+) of the papers, articles, etc., in the donated collection to .pdf's.

Is Ashbaugh in ill health or something? Just ask him.
