Smartphone cameras for fingermark photography?
Does anyone know of any work that has been done on the use/potential use of smartphone cameras for fingermark photography?

MorphoTrak offers a product for capturing latents on an i-pad and sending them to their AFIS system for searching.
It's not "stand alone" but it might have relevance to your inquiry
it's called MiCrimeScene

Thanks Bill! I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience of using this, or any other similar products, or has any info/anecdotes relating to simply using smartphone cameras without such a product.

The main drawback to this, aside from resolution concerns, is that the original captured image is usually not in a lossless format. Data security is the other concern.

NRivera - valid concerns, which should be obvious but, I suspect, are not obvious to everyone! But then those concerns also apply to other image capture devices and, it could be argued, pretty much any imaging system.
